Artist's Comments

My place of employment is having a logo creation contest for our CHEER committee. Based on suggestions from members of the group (including one of the heads), I created this as my submission.

The biggest consensus was that they wanted the rainbow on the C, something to represent diversity, and that they wanted it to look modern. I used a rainbow gradient at an angle and used Futura as my font. The initial cap is also to be used as a mark for the committee.

Yes, this is the stuff I've been doing instead of drawing things for myself.

At any rate, it's not finalized, so feedback would be very welcome. Thanks!

i like it but i have one problem
when i saw it i read "HEER"
and saw a cool design next to this odd word
the C need to find its way back into that word maybee by stretching the rainbow gradient onto half of the h and fading it or making the C look more liek a C

sorry for being so critical ><
i do like the concept

I need critical!

It was also suggested to me to move the "HEER" up higher. I might open the C up and move the text. I like your idea about the gradient. I'll see if it works!

Look for an updated version soon! Thanks!

I agree with ~TheBrokenToast; the logo looks like "HEER" with a little symbol next to it. I think you need to tweak the C to make it look more readable as a C.

When you stare at the image long enough, you make it out as a C, but you don't want people's first impression to be "(symbol)HEER" -- most people don't spend more than a few seconds looking at a logo, so a first glance that causes people to misread the logo is not the desired effect, definitely. What if you aligned "HEER" with the open space of the C instead of the bottom line of the letter? Using the rainbow gradient in more of the letters might also help to pull it together. The rest of the word is too dark and doesn't fit in with the C.

I'm not a fan of the drop shadow. either. The drop shadow in the wavy parts of the C seem to be different than those on the rest of the text, and I think that only goes to further divide the C from the rest of the text, emphasizing the "HEER" as a separate part.

Also, if you're designing a professional logo, something that you can add to your portfolio, you should really be doing it in Illustrator, not Photoshop--but you already know that. =P

This is a good start, but it needs more work. Try to tie that C in to the rest of it. I think that a little experimentation is really all that's needed to make it a more effective logo.

As it is right now, ~Xekiro walked through the room behind me, glanced over and yelled "Cheers!" So I assume any necessary changes have already been made.
Otherwise, I read it fine and it looks awfully cheerful to me. :)

I haven't changed anything yet. I'm still working on it! But thanks!

I think it's very cool! I would suggest possibly removing the squiggles nearest to the ends to the C. It would still maintain the integrity of the overall design while conveying more strongly that it is a C.

Well.... see there? Or something. :)
